INTRODUCING ... The Main-Events Calendar for Equestrian Events

All in one place ... if it is an event or show related to horses, you should find it here. Eventually! We are taking free listings for the website starting now. If your event isn’t on this list, use the LIST MY EVENT button on the right to send an email. You don’t have to be a Main-Events show to list either – all welcome!

To start things off with, we are listing all shows from the calendars published by Equestrian Sport NZ, Pony Clubs and the Royal Agricultural Society. However, it is up to the individual show organizers to extend their basic listing with contact information, schedules and related documents with the Main-Events Calendar.

If your event is listed, but you want to extend its usefulness to riders, click on the LIST MY EVENT button making any changes to information displayed on this site, and then attach any related documents.

Conferences, equine clinics, training courses, horse auction sales?

If it is horse related, it can be listed! The criteria is that it is an “event” tied to a certain date and not just advertising a year round service. We are so confident that you will find this service of great use that we will make your first listing free including downloadable brochures etc. After that, the price to list a commercial event will be $25 + gst.

Advertisers?

We are making this site FREE to shows to list and FREE to riders to look, so we are using advertising to pay the web developers! We reckon this will be a popular site so if you want to be in on the ground floor, email calendar[at]main-events.co.nz to talk about advertising opportunities.

Added option for Main-Events Shows

Over 50 shows in New Zealand use Main-Events software to run equestrian events, bird shows and shearing competitions. If your show is one of them, the latest software upgrade will allow you to upload a set of READ ONLY show data (bare essentials only!) to your folder on the web so riders can see draws, start times and who else is in the class. It is effectively an online Show Programme showing only information you hand out to the public normally. If you record scores and results in Main-Events and then upload your data several times a day during the show (and we make it really easy!), riders and viewers will effectively have "live" results – just like being there or better!

Riders will also be able to use their own access code to view a list of all the classes they have entered at your show in their own home page – making it really easy to catch errors and omissions before the show starts. This will save you masses of time answering emails, phone calls and faxes from riders wanting to know their start times, back numbers and did they enter such and such a class.

Future plans

This is the first stage of a major online development project for Main-Events software. Our company ran an HTML prototype of this website last year for 3 shows including the 2008 Horse of the Year Show, the Wairarapa A&P and Masterton A&P – and it was a huge success with the riders.

At this stage, staff at Main-Events are entering shows on to the list while we sort out requirements in terms of search criteria, locations and categories of events with the web developers. In the near future, show organizers will be able to upload their own documents and data with a click of a button.
